The Jackie Robinson
The Jackie Robinson
This man is know for single-handedly breaking barriers in baseball.
The first African American to play in Major League Baseball (MLB) in the modern period was professional baseball player Jack Roosevelt Robinson (January 31, 1919 – October 24, 1972). On April 15, 1947, Robinson started at first base for the Brooklyn Dodgers, breaking the color barrier in baseball. The signing of Robinson by the Dodgers signaled the end of professional baseball's racial segregation, which had kept black players in the Negro leagues since the 1880s. In 1962, Robinson was admitted to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
